Transparent pricing — the whole list

Honest prices.
Fixed before we start.

Round numbers, total price — no VAT added, agreed on the phone before anyone gets in a van. This is the list we quote from — there isn’t a second one.

A fixed quote on the phone

Describe the door, we give you one all-in figure — the total price — no VAT added. You'll have your price in writing before we set off.

You approve before we start

Nothing happens until you say yes. If anything changes on site, we stop and re-quote first — the figure never quietly grows.

Payment at completion

You pay when the job's done and you're happy with it — card, bank transfer or payment link.

If you don’t go ahead, you pay nothing. No call-out fee — when you accept the quoted work. No doorstep surprises.

The price list

Every job, both time bands, one honest list.

No bait prices, no asterisks. These are complete starting figures for typical jobs — and the last column tells you exactly what would move them.

Trulox fixed prices by job and time band. Every price is the total price — no VAT added.
Job Day · 8am–6pm Evening · 6pm–midnight What moves the price
Lockout non-destructive entry first from £95 from £115 Lock type. If the cylinder has to be replaced afterwards, the new part is quoted and approved before it is fitted.
Lock repair repair-first — if a repair will hold, that is what we quote from £95 from £115 Whether the mechanism can be repaired or needs new parts — confirmed with you before we start.
Lock change / replacement the fit — the lock is named and priced separately from £99 from £119 The exact lock or cylinder — named and priced in writing before fitting — and how many locks in the same visit.
uPVC mechanism / gearbox the gearbox or multipoint mechanism — the failed part only from £115 from £135 Which mechanism your door uses. The gearbox or full strip is named and priced before we fit it.
Securing after a burglary make-safe after a break-in from £115 from £135 How much of the frame is damaged. Replacement locks or joinery are quoted separately — approved by you first.
Boarding up doors, windows, glass panels from £135 from £155 Board size and access. If you need glass afterwards, we can point you to a glazier we trust — no markup.
Payment at completion — never before we start, never chased after. You pay when the job's done and you're happy with it — card, bank transfer or payment link.

Evening jobs (6pm–midnight) add £20 to the day price — published here, not discovered on your doorstep. Every figure above is a starting price: your fixed quote is agreed on the phone before anyone sets off, and it’s the total price — no VAT added. The price we agree is the price you pay.

After midnight we’re honest about it: the lines reopen at 8am — message us on WhatsApp overnight and we’ll reply first thing.

  • The price we agree is the price you pay
  • No call-out fee — when you accept the quoted work
  • You'll have your price in writing before we set off.

Why we publish everything

The most expensive locksmith is the one with no price list.

Rogue locksmiths

What documented victims paid

£500–£3,000

Bait adverts, locks drilled that never needed drilling, cash demanded at the door — documented by Which? and BBC investigations into rogue locksmiths.

The Trulox way

A typical Trulox lockout starts at

from £95

Fixed on the phone, approved by you, picks before drills — and you pay when the job's done and you're happy with it — card, bank transfer or payment link.

Use this on us

Nine questions to ask any locksmith — including us.

Screenshot the list and ask it down the phone — to us, to anyone. Our answers are pre-filled, and an honest firm won't mind a single one of them.

01 · Do you charge a call-out fee?
Trulox’s answer

No call-out fee — when you accept the quoted work. Fixed quote on the phone, you approve, payment at completion. If you don’t go ahead, you pay nothing.

Red flag: a “nothing to pay for attending” offer that reappears on the invoice as an attendance charge.

02 · Is the price fixed before you start?
Trulox’s answer

Yes — one all-in figure, the total price — no VAT added, agreed before we set off. You'll have your price in writing before we set off. It’s the number from this page, not a number invented at your door.

Red flag: a vague figure on the phone that has somehow doubled by the time the van arrives.

03 · Will you try non-destructive entry first?
Trulox’s answer

Always. Picks and decoders first; drilling is a last resort, explained and agreed with you before it happens — never after.

Red flag: anyone reaching for the drill in the first five minutes.

04 · Who exactly will turn up at my door?
Trulox’s answer

You'll speak to George — the owner, and a working locksmith. Not a call centre. At your door: One of our own DBS-checked locksmiths — never subcontracted. ID shown before anyone touches your lock.

Red flag: a national call centre that can’t name the firm it’s actually sending.

05 · Are you a real company I can look up?
Trulox’s answer

Yes — and you should look us up before we arrive.

Trulox Ltd · Company No. 12280106Verify on Companies House — registered since 2019

Red flag: a mobile number, no company name, no address.

06 · Are you insured?
Trulox’s answer

£2.5M public liability insurance — Barclays. Ask for the certificate and we’ll show you.

Red flag: a vague “we’re insured” with no figure and no insurer’s name.

07 · Do you guarantee your work?
Trulox’s answer

12-month workmanship guarantee (terms apply) on every job, stated in writing on your itemised invoice — not a verbal “don’t worry about it”.

08 · How do I pay?
Trulox’s answer

You pay when the job's done and you're happy with it — card, bank transfer or payment link. Never cash-only, never money before we start.

Red flag: cash only — or money demanded before anyone has even seen your door.

09 · Will you ask me for proof it's my home?
Trulox’s answer

Yes — before we open any door. That’s not a hurdle; it’s how you know you’ve called the right kind of locksmith.

Red flag: no questions asked. A locksmith who’ll open any door for anyone is a burglar’s best friend.

How you pay

Money changes hands once — at the end.

Payment at completion — never before we start, never chased after. The itemised invoice lands in your inbox before the van leaves the kerb.

  • You pay when the job's done and you're happy with it — card, bank transfer or payment link.
  • Itemised invoice — the total price — no VAT added
  • No cash pressure — ever

Straight answers

Pricing questions people actually ask.

It's after midnight — can I still reach you?

Our lines are open 8am to midnight, every day. After midnight, message us on WhatsApp and we'll reply when we reopen — or send the quote form and we'll ring you back from 8am.

Why do your prices say ‘from’?

Because a standard job genuinely starts there. The published price is the labour to do the work; anything that would move it — the exact lock or part, extra locks, frame damage — is named in writing before we set off, and the number you approve is your fixed quote. It never grows at your door.

Why is the evening rate higher?

Evenings are unsocial hours and we genuinely staff them, so they cost more to run. The difference is one flat uplift on every job — never a multiplier, never a surge. We don’t run a 2am rate — the lines close at midnight — and it’s the same price on weekends and bank holidays; only the evening band moves the figure. It’s in the table above, fixed on the phone, never discovered on your doorstep.

What if the job turns out bigger than the phone quote?

We stop and tell you before doing anything beyond what you approved. You get a new fixed quote, and we only carry on with your yes. You pay for work you approved — nothing else, and the original figure never quietly grows.

Are parts included, or added on top?

The published price is the labour to fit. The lock or part itself is shown to you in writing and agreed before we fit it — a fair, named price, never an inflated doorstep markup. So a lock change is that fitting price plus the exact lock you choose, both agreed on the phone before we set off — total price, no VAT added, and nothing is discovered on the invoice.

How do I pay?

At the end of the job, once you’re happy with it — card, bank transfer or a payment link sent to your phone. Nothing before we start, nothing chased after, and never cash pressure at the door.
